Underneath A Red-tailed Hawk

By | August 6, 2017

I came across this Red-tailed Hawk back in July, 2009 while driving around Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Fort Chaffee has old utility poles that are not used anymore and this Hawk was perched on top of one. I was able to drive close to the Hawk without scaring it and getting a few photos. I don’t care much for photographing birds from underneath, but I didn’t have much choice this time. What I like about this photo is that it shows the details and the colors of this bird. These old utility poles are not as tall as regular poles so I was close to this Red-tailed Hawk when I was underneath it. Using my pickup as a blind was the only way I was going to get a photo like this.
