I came across this Common Yellowthroat while hiking a trail near James W. Trimble Lock and Dam 13 (Springhill Park – Arkansas). It took me awhile to even get a photograph of this tiny bird. It was hanging around some tall plants which made it difficult to get a clear photo. This was back in August of 2010 and I believe this was my first photo of one of these birds. I read that breeding habitats of these birds are marshes and other wet areas with dense, low vegetation, and may also be found in other areas with dense shrub. This is exactly the type of area this Common Yellowthroat was in. He was near the Arkansas River in the thick stuff.
